The National Zoo

Part of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution, The National Zoo is spread out over 160 acres and features over 400 special species of animals. With many different unique habitats, the Washington, DC National Zoo is an ideal attraction for families to explore. The most popular exhibit are the world famous Giant Pandas Tian Tian and Mei Xiang.

Parking, Directions and Public Transit

The zoo is a few miles north of the National Mall and there is plenty of onsite parking, which is $16.00 for the first three hours, or $22.00 for more than three hours (Maximum of $22.00 per day.) and the Metro goes directly to the Woodley Park-Zoo station.

Daily Programs

There are daily interpretive programs including special viewings of animals, educational programs, guided tours, and special events.
