Innovative flutist-composer-arranger Hadar Noiberg heads up a trailblazing trio that fuses traditional Western jazz with Middle Eastern and North African rhythms. The result is fresh, spunky, boundary-pushing music that turns simple folk melodies on their heads, adding layers of complexity and playful improvisational soloing. Hadar's vast experience in classical, Cuban, Brazilian and Middle Eastern styles brings a distinctive voice to her compositions, and the addition of an equally gifted rhythm section -- featuring drummer Allison Miller (Ani Difranco, Natalie Merchant) and bassist Haggai Cohen Milo -- rounds out the trio's singular sound. For this performance at Washington DCJCC, the trio will be joined by clarinetist Anat Cohen and guitarist Yotam Silberstein.
