From Coachella to the opera house, eighth blackbird (yes, all lowercase) is one of the most adventurous instrumental ensembles in chamber music today, combining the finesse of a string quartet, the energy of a rock band and the audacity of a storefront theater company. The Chicago-based, Grammy-winning "super-musicians" (as deemed by the LA Times) are known for collaborating with musicians who straddle the rock and classical worlds. Now, eighth blackbird flies into DC's John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to perform a program that includes a world premiere commission by "punk classical" composer David T. Little.
