NSO: Durufle & Debussy

Concerts & MusicNational Symphony: Durufle's Requiem & Debussy

At the baton for the National Symphony Orchestra is Scottish conductor Donald Runnicles, who returns to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall after his successful 2015 debut for a sure-to-be-stirring version of Maurice Durufle's Requiem. Mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, baritone Christian Bowers and the University of Maryland Concert Choir lend their voices to the performance as well, for this WWII-era work that incorporates dramatic Gregorian chants. The NSO is also set to perform Debussy's Three Nocturnes and new orchestrations of the French composer's Four Préludes by Colin Matthews.
