Come celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC with us. The festival features over three weeks of events and commemorates the 1912 gift of the cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington DC. The annual celebration honors the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan.
The Cherry Blossoms bloom period starts several days before the peak bloom date and can last as long as 14 days, however, frost or high temperatures combined with wind or rain can shorten this period. The average peak bloom date is usually around April 4.
The main event is the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, happening on April 8th at 10am on Constitution Avenue - from 7th to 17th streets map link.
Standing along the parade route is free and located on Constitution Ave between 9th and 15 streets. Arrive early for the best views. Tickets for grandstand seating are available as well for individuals starting at $20 (ticket site) and for groups 10 or more.
For other events please go the events site to for more information.
